The Markt was renovated in 2018 to a design by HOSPER architecture & urban development.
For many, this square is the route from the parking lot to the shopping street, and the Dokkum client therefore finds this location undervalued. We share this point of view, time for a good idea!
A Dokkum entrepreneur owns an ice rink like you see in many cities: built from modular elements. This system lends itself to an ice rink in any desired layout, why always skate in a circle?
The uniqueness of the square is respected by emphasizing the elements of designer HOSPER. The ice rink is built around the existing elements, resulting in a playful skating route with enough space for other functions such as a Christmas market and catering
