Atrium

From no man's land to the hub of the building: The covered courtyard between two buildings has been transformed into a dynamic traffic space.

Type

Visualization, Concepting

The atrium in ZUID4 was a piece of no man's land. In the transformation of the two buildings, the covered courtyard, the 'atrium', has become the hub of the building. The existing curtain wall has been removed and a corridor zone has been created by placing a new glass facade 1.50 m from the atrium. In combination with three new staircases, the atrium has become a lively space: the hub of the building.

In this process, we were able to help the client make design choices by visualizing multiple (wall) finishes and color schemes.

ZUID4 is a former bank office and is being repurposed from 100% office function to a multidisciplinary business center with offices, meeting rooms, restaurant ZUID4 Food & Drinks, and ZUID4 Fitness. A modern office concept that responds to the changing labor market.
